Event sponsors are the key organizations or individuals behind each hackathon. They are the ones who initiate, organize, and support the event — often by providing resources such as funding, venue, platforms, mentors, and promotional support. On Hackathon.cy, the term “sponsor” refers not just to financial backers, but to those who take responsibility for the overall structure and experience of the event.

Sponsors can be technology companies, startups, academic institutions, innovation hubs, NGOs, or even public sector entities. Each sponsor brings their unique perspective and goals — whether it’s talent scouting, testing new technologies, building brand awareness, or contributing to the local innovation ecosystem.

We carefully list and showcase sponsors on our platform, because they play a critical role in shaping the hackathon’s theme, scope, and community. Participants often choose events based not only on the topic, but also on the reputation and background of the organizers. By partnering with a variety of sponsors, we aim to offer diverse opportunities for both beginners and experienced professionals.

Hackathon.cy embraces a wide variety of event formats, so everyone can find a challenge that suits their interests and skills. While “hackathon” traditionally refers to coding competitions, the term has evolved to include any event where participants collaborate intensively to build, solve, or pitch something within a limited time.

Here are the core types we support:

Hackathons focus on solving real-world problems using technology, often involving software or hardware prototyping.

Gamethons center around game development, design, and storytelling — ideal for creative coders, designers, and writers.

Ideathons are perfect for idea-stage innovators who want to pitch concepts, business models, or community solutions without necessarily coding.

Bugathons challenge participants to find and fix issues in systems or software, often used by QA teams or open-source projects.

Codeathons are fast-paced, code-intensive marathons with algorithmic or feature-building tasks.

Some events are online, some hybrid, and others fully in-person. Some require teams, others welcome solo developers. We always display event details clearly so you can choose the format that works best for you.

No — and that’s a promise. Our newsletter is carefully curated to deliver only valuable and relevant content about upcoming hackathons, recent results, application deadlines, and insights from past events. You won’t receive any third-party ads, product promotions, or unrelated marketing content.

We understand how important inbox privacy is, especially for tech professionals. That’s why we keep our communications lean and focused. You’ll get updates only when something matters — like a new hackathon in your region or a major deadline you may not want to miss.

Additionally, we don’t share your email address with any event organizers, sponsors, or outside platforms. All subscription data is handled securely in accordance with GDPR standards. And of course, you can unsubscribe at any time with one click — no questions asked.

If you’re organizing a hackathon, game jam, code sprint, or ideathon, we’d love to help you reach the right audience. Submitting your event to Hackathon.cy is easy and completely free. Just go to https://hackathon.cy/event/new/ and fill out the form with the key details — name, description, dates, format, location, and your contact info.

Once submitted, your event goes through a short moderation process. We do this to ensure each event meets a minimum quality standard and fits within our mission: supporting educational, collaborative, and innovative IT events. If needed, we might contact you for clarification or suggest improvements to how your event is presented.

After approval, your event will appear on the main schedule page and be included in relevant newsletter announcements. You’ll also have the option to update the listing later. Whether you’re a first-time organizer or a large institution, Hackathon.cy is here to amplify your reach and help build momentum around your initiative.
