BoC Fintech Hackathon 7.0

The Bank of Cyprus runs its 7th innovation marathon for application development on 27-29 November 2026, in person at the IDEA Innovation Center in Nicosia. Teams build fintech solutions up to MVP stage, with AI running through most of the challenge areas. Announced tracks include AI for Good, Fintech for Smart Cities, Open Banking & Embedded Finance, Fintech for SMEs & Entrepreneurship, Cybersecurity & Trust in Fintech, Sustainable Finance & Green Banking, RegTech & Compliance Automation, Inclusive Fintech & Financial Wellbeing, Energy Fintech & Smart Grid Finance, Fintech for Insurance, Fintech for Health, Fintech for Social Innovation, and AI & Fintech for Real Estate. Open to developers, startups, professionals and students. The open call started in August 2026; technical specifications land on 15 September and an Open Day is scheduled for 30 September 2026. Partners include Jinius by Bank of Cyprus, Nicosia Municipality, IDEA Innovation Center, University of Cyprus, UNIC, Kyndryl, Microsoft and Cyta Business. Organised with technological and organisational support from Crowdpolicy.

Prizes

1st place EUR 7,000 / 2nd EUR 4,000 / 3rd EUR 2,000, plus EUR 2,000 for best use of the Jinius APIs (Bank of Cyprus) and EUR 1,000 for the best Smart City solution (Nicosia Municipality). More awards to be announced.

Rules

Teams of mixed disciplines are encouraged. Existing and newly formed teams may both compete. Solutions are developed to Minimum Viable Product stage during the event at the IDEA Innovation Center, Likourgou 36, Nicosia. Intellectual property stays with the team and its members under the Crowdhackathon terms.
