Frederick University students send INVESTech hackathon solutions to a September grand final
Students from the Computer Science and Computer Engineering programmes of Frederick University in Limassol took part in the INVESTech Hackathon 2026 and Pitching Day, a three-day intensive build followed by a presentation session in front of academics, industry professionals and representatives of the local innovation ecosystem.
Working with modern development tools and APIs provided by cooperating companies, the teams produced solutions aimed at real-world problems - among them accessibility for people with mobility difficulties, communication through sign language, and energy efficiency in the home. On Pitching Day each team presented its prototype and collected feedback from the judging professionals ahead of the international stage.
Twenty teams from Cyprus, Slovakia and Lithuania now go forward to the grand final on 23 September 2026, where an international evaluation committee will assess the projects.
The hackathon runs under INVESTech, an Erasmus+ project building a transnational platform of Centres of Vocational Excellence in ICT across Slovakia, Greece, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Lithuania, with Frederick University as the Cypriot partner.
