Registrations open for the EUDIS Defence Hackathon — Cyprus node runs 15–17 October

Registrations have opened for the 5th edition of the EUDIS Defence Hackathon, which runs onsite from 15 to 17 October 2026 across eight European locations — Austria, Cyprus, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Portugal and Sweden. The Cyprus node is hosted by C.D. Multimedia Services Ltd, the first time the island hosts a leg of the EU-wide defence innovation programme.

This autumn's theme is Autonomy on the Battlefield. Teams will work on real operational challenges ranging from operating in GNSS-denied environments to enabling autonomous swarms for reconnaissance and logistics. The call is open to engineers, startups, SMEs, researchers, developers and technology professionals from eligible countries, who work alongside defence experts and industry mentors over the three days.

Applications are handled through the organisers' registration form, and an online info session for prospective participants is scheduled for 10 September at 14:00 CET. Registration deadlines are set locally by each host; the Cyprus cut-off has not yet been published, so applicants should watch the official site for confirmation.

EUDIS — the EU Defence Innovation Scheme — runs the hackathon under the European Commission, pairing the local events with an EU-wide pitching competition afterwards. The Spring 2026 edition, themed "Defending Airspace," drew 582 participants across eight European cities.
