Free, 80+ activities: European Researchers' Night hits Nicosia on 25 September
If you build things for a living — or you are trying to talk a teenager into it — this is the easiest evening of the year to spend on it.
European Researchers' Night 2026 runs on Friday, 25 September 2026 at the Cyprus State Fair in Nicosia (Halls A & B). It is organised by the Research and Innovation Foundation and funded by the European Commission, and this year marks 20 years of the event in Cyprus.
What is on: more than 80 interactive activities — live experiments, demonstrations, workshops, talks and competitions. The anniversary theme is "CELEBRATE 2.0 – Two Decades of STEAM-Powered Inspiration", with the programme built around STEAM: science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
Why bother if you already work in tech: it is the one night a year when researchers from every Cypriot university and research centre stand in the same two halls and explain what they actually do. Good for spotting collaborators, good for recruiting, and good for showing a kid what a robotics lab looks like up close.
Practicalities: entry is free and open to all ages. The full programme and the R&I exhibition line-up are published on the organisers' site, and sessions are also streamed on the Foundation's YouTube channel.
Across Europe, European Researchers' Night runs in more than 25 countries and 460 cities on the same night.
