Twelve names on 11 October, four trophies on the 15th: Startup Award Cyprus picks its finalists — and there is no cash prize
Applications for Startup Award Cyprus 2026 closed on 1 October. The organiser, The Ventures, names its twelve finalists on 11 October, and those twelve pitch live at the Final Pitch and Awards ceremony on Thursday 15 October 2026.
The structure is deliberately narrow. Entry was free — a website link and a pitch deck — and open to early-stage companies from any sector, anywhere, provided they are between pre-seed and Round A, have an MVP or prototype, and can physically get to Cyprus. That last condition is not negotiable: participation in the final is in person only and mandatory for finalists. From the twelve, judges pick four winners: Best Product, Best Traction, Best Team, and a special nomination for Best AI Solution.
There is no cash prize, and that is the point. What the winners get is investor introductions, mentorship, media exposure and access to what The Ventures describes as a network of more than 460 VC funds, investors and business angels collectively managing over $57 billion. Finalists pitch face to face to a hand-picked group of investors rather than to a general audience. For a pre-seed team, whether that is worth more than a five-figure cheque depends mostly on whether they already have a lead.
The panel is the substance of the offer. It includes Petros Farah, Investment Director at Samsung Ventures; Demetrios Zoppos, co-founder and partner at 33East; Andreas Panayi, co-founder and CEO of Kinisis Ventures; Stavrinos Kyriakou, who leads startup and scale-ISV recruitment strategy at Microsoft; Anton Timashev, co-founder of ZERO10 and Tetrad.vc and CEO of Wayvee Analytics; Margarita Kyprianou, Innovation Program Manager at Cyprus Seeds; and Grigory Bortnik, co-founder of Narwhal Accelerator and venture partner at The Games Fund. 4dev.com is platinum partner and Royal Pine gold partner, with AWS/Cloudvisor, Miro and TechIsland also attached.
One practical gap for anyone hoping to attend rather than compete: The Ventures has not published a venue or a start time for the 2026 final. The 2025 edition ran on 23 September at The Warehouse, which makes Limassol the sensible assumption, but it is an assumption — ask the organisers before building a day around it.
Zoom out and the timing is the story. Cyprus now has a pitching season: the NBG Business Seeds competition takes proposals until 14 October, Unicorn Pitches lands in Limassol on 24 November, and Plug and Play closes its first local cohort with a public expo on 11 November. Startup Award Cyprus is the one where the table is mostly investors rather than mostly mentors. The twelve names published on 11 October will be a fair snapshot of what the island's early-stage pipeline actually looks like this year.
