Students free, everyone else from €70: the "AI Wars" summit takes the Nicosia Municipal Theatre on 14 October — and runs until nearly midnight
Four days' notice, and one line in the pricing that matters more than the speaker list: students go free. The Digital Agenda Cyprus Summit 2026 runs on Wednesday 14 October at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre (Mouseiou 6, Nicosia 1097) under the title "AI Wars: Challenging the Balance of Power".
The day is longer than it looks. Registration opens at 08:00, the main programme runs 09:00–18:00, and then there is a separate Night Summit with its own running order going through to 23:50. Anyone planning to drop in for a morning session should know the networking weight of this one sits in the evening half.
The framing is geopolitical, not product-led. The announced threads are "Industrial Intelligence", AI dominance and sovereignty, innovation inside government, investment strategy, early-stage startups, and the luxury and creative industries — 40+ speakers drawn deliberately from politics, industry and academia rather than engineering alone. The headline international name is Nina Schick, a sovereign-AI strategist who was one of the earlier public voices on synthetic media and the geopolitics of AGI.
Who is behind it. The organising committee is chaired by Kyriacos Kokkinos — former IBM executive and former Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy. The University of Nicosia is a sponsor, as is LLPO Law Firm. That combination is a fair predictor of who turns up from the government and institutional side.
Tickets. Early Bird from €70, discounted rates for corporate teams of five, and free admission for students. Registration runs through agenda.cy. The student tier is the genuinely notable part: nothing else on the island this autumn puts policymakers, investors and AI practitioners in one building at zero cost to anyone enrolled.
Why a hackathon listing cares about a talks day. Because the briefs downstream tend to rhyme with what gets said here. The summit sits two weeks ahead of SkillsCyprus (29–31 October) and DevFest Cyprus (31 October), and five weeks ahead of the BoC Fintech Hackathon 7.0 (27–29 November, €16,000 in prizes). Cyprus' hackathon challenge statements are written by institutions, and this is the week those institutions say out loud what they think the problem is. Go listen, then pick your challenge.
The speaker list has been filling in through September and October — check the final programme on agenda.cy before booking the day off.
