Autonomy on the Battlefield: Cyprus hosts its first EUDIS Defence Hackathon, 15–17 October

The EU Defence Innovation Scheme hackathon kicked off on 15 October with its opening ceremony in Nicosia, the first time Cyprus has hosted it.

Cyprus is one of eight countries running it simultaneously, alongside Austria, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Portugal and Sweden. The theme is "Autonomy on the Battlefield".

Challenges include navigation without satellite positioning, coordination between autonomous drones and robots, and protecting critical infrastructure from hostile unmanned aircraft.

Previous editions drew more than 1,800 participants and over 500 proposed solutions. It runs until 17 October.
