Postponed from March, now sold out: ENISA brings the European Cybersecurity Skills Conference to Larnaca on 4–5 November

It is the second ENISA conference Cyprus has hosted this autumn, and the one most likely to change what a Cypriot security CV has to say. The 4th European Cybersecurity Skills Conference takes place on 4–5 November 2026, 09:00–17:00, at the Radisson Beach Resort in Larnaca, organised by ENISA — the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity — together with the Digital Security Authority (DSA) of Cyprus, under the theme "Strengthening EU's Cybersecurity Skills for a Resilient Digital Future".

Four things on the agenda, and three of them are mechanisms rather than talks.

  • Skills recognition — European initiatives including the proposal for the attestation of cybersecurity skills, aimed at making security competences transparent, comparable and trusted across member states. This is the one that eventually shows up in job adverts.
  • AI and the workforce — what artificial intelligence does to cybersecurity skills and roles, framed against the EU AI Action Plan.
  • The ECSF revision — an ongoing rewrite of the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework, including new proficiency levels, to align it with secure digital product lifecycles, emerging technology and the EU's moving legislative baseline.
  • Ecosystem cooperation — EU institutions, member states, industry and academia in one room, which is the part that justifies holding it in person.

Two logistics notes that matter more than usual. First, the conference was originally scheduled for 4–5 March and postponed to November — so any diary entry made in the spring is wrong. Second, registration is closed: the event reached maximum capacity ahead of time. If you are not already on the list, the realistic route in is the published draft agenda and participant guide hosted on ictacademy.cy, and the proceedings under #EUCyberSkills and #ECSFtalks.

The pattern worth noticing. ENISA has now run two conferences on the island inside a month — the 11th ENISA eHealth Security Conference at the ICT Academy in Nicosia on 7 October, and this one in Larnaca — both co-organised with the Digital Security Authority. For a member state of Cyprus' size, hosting the agency's skills conference is a real piece of positioning, and it arrives while the island is still working through the NIS2 consequences for the SMEs that recently became "important entities" and chasing the cybersecurity grant whose clock ran to 10 November. The skills framework being revised in Larnaca is the one those companies will be hiring against.

If you wanted the hands-on version. This is a policy and framework conference, not a competition — the island's build-and-compete security event is the Cyprus Cyber Security Challenge, run by the Cyprus Computer Society, which held its 2026 edition online in August. The next competitive dates on the calendar are the Zubr Capital Young Hackathon on 24 October and the BoC Fintech Hackathon 7.0 on 27–29 November, the latter with cybersecurity among its named themes.
