Cyprus joins the EUDIS Defence Hackathon — pre-registration is open

Cyprus is on the map for the EUDIS Defence Hackathon Autumn 2026. The European Commission initiative runs simultaneously in eight countries on 15–17 October — Austria, Cyprus, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Portugal and Sweden — and this is the first edition with a Cypriot node. The local host is C.D. Multimedia Services Ltd.

The theme this autumn is “Autonomy on the Battlefield”: autonomous systems and robotics that create operational advantage in the air, on land, at sea and in space.

What you should know before signing up

• Teams of 3–5 people, multidisciplinary encouraged.
• Open to students, developers, engineers, researchers and founders working in dual-use and defence tech.
• Funded by the European Defence Fund — participation is organised through the local host.
• Mentorship from defence-industry experts, both during the weekend and in a structured phase afterwards.

Why it is worth your weekend. The spring edition drew 582 participants across 16 EU countries and Norway, producing 169 team solutions over 48 hours. Past participants describe it as a fast route into a sector that is otherwise hard to break into from the outside — several teams have gone on to found companies off the back of it. If you want defence or dual-use work on your CV, this is a rare local on-ramp.
