⚓ New dates, sign-ups open: the Frederick University port-decarbonisation hackathon moves to 20–21 October

If you pencilled in 13–14 October for the EU-CONEXUS hackathon at Frederick University, move it: the alliance now lists the Cyprus edition for 20–21 October 2026, and the status has switched to registration open.

The challenge: Decarbonising Port Operations through Smart Energy and Digital Twin Solutions. Teams of 3–5 work on practical ways to cut emissions in port and maritime operations, a good fit for energy, engineering, data and CS students who want a sustainability project on their CV.

Who can register: undergraduates, Master's and PhD students, researchers and academics, plus an "other" category. Each person registers individually and picks whether to attend one day or both.

One thing to check: the listing says 20–21 October, but the day options on the form read 21 and 22 October. Confirm with the organisers before you plan around it. No closing date has been published, so register early.
